What can I expect during the treatment?

This is a typical procedure time for average-sized tattoo removals or revitalization treatments, but Dr. Huettner can provide a more accurate estimate after your in-person consultation.
In addition to being convenient, PicoSure’s cutting-edge laser technology also produces very little discomfort. Many patients have reported a feeling similar to that of a rubber band snapping against the skin and find treatments to be very tolerable, but Dr. Huettner may offer numbing creams or other aids to ensure a comfortable experience.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments you need will depend on the concerns being addressed and your desired results. Patients looking to improve the tone and texture of their skin typically need two to five treatments to achieve optimal results, although noticeable improvements may begin to appear sooner than that. For tattoo removal, the size and location of the tattoo, the density of the ink and the colors present will affect how quickly it can be eliminated, but most patients require four to 10 treatments to achieve full clearance.
Treatments are generally spaced two to four weeks apart, but if you have darker skin or heal slower, you may have to wait longer between treatments. This is to allow the skin enough time to heal, although the side effects of PicoSure are mild. You may experience some redness and swelling immediately after your treatment, but this can be easily managed with over-the-counter medications and will quickly subside.
